Sri Lanka Deploys Military Drones to Fight Major Dengue Outbreak

Sri Lanka is facing its worst dengue outbreak in nearly a decade, with more than 76,000 reported infections and over 50 deaths since the beginning of the year. Health authorities say the rapid spread has placed enormous pressure on hospitals across the country.

To control the outbreak, the Sri Lankan government has deployed Air Force drones to identify mosquito breeding sites while military teams are assisting with inspections, clean-up operations, and public awareness campaigns. Thousands of breeding sites have already been cleared as authorities intensify mosquito-control efforts.

Public health experts have warned that continued surveillance and community participation will be essential to prevent further spread of dengue, particularly during the upcoming monsoon season.
