Indian Rupee Faces Fresh Pressure as Global Oil Prices Rise
The Indian rupee remained under pressure on Wednesday as global crude oil prices climbed sharply amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Although the currency avoided a major fall, market analysts said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) likely intervened to limit further depreciation.
According to market experts, higher crude oil prices increase India's import bill and could lead to higher inflation, a wider current account deficit, and increased pressure on the rupee. Brent crude crossed 96 US dollars per barrel, raising concerns among investors about the country's economic outlook.
Despite the challenges, foreign investment has shown signs of recovery in recent weeks, providing some support to the Indian currency. Economists believe that if global oil prices stabilize, pressure on the rupee could gradually ease in the coming months.
