Google Increases AI Spending as Revenue Continues to Grow

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has reported another quarter of strong financial performance while significantly increasing its investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company said higher spending on AI data centres, custom chips, and cloud computing is aimed at supporting the expansion of its Gemini AI models and other AI-powered services.

Despite record capital expenditure, Google's cloud business continued to grow rapidly, and the company reported better-than-expected quarterly revenue. CEO Sundar Pichai said AI is becoming central to nearly every Google product, from Search and Workspace to Cloud and Android.

Technology analysts believe Google's aggressive AI investment strategy is intended to maintain its leadership as competition intensifies from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other global AI developers.
