Global Economy Shows Resilience Despite Ongoing Geopolitical Tensions
The heads of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, World Trade Organization (WTO), and International Energy Agency (IEA) have stated that the global economy has remained broadly resilient despite the economic shock caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, they warned that uncertainty remains high and further escalation could disrupt global energy supplies and international trade.
The joint statement highlighted that higher oil prices and disruptions in shipping routes continue to pose risks to inflation and economic growth. International organizations said they are closely monitoring developments and are prepared to support countries facing energy, food, and trade-related challenges.
Global financial institutions also emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to reduce geopolitical tensions and restore stability in global markets. Economists believe that while the world economy has avoided a major downturn so far, prolonged conflicts could increase costs for businesses and consumers worldwide.
