AMD Invests Up to $5 Billion in Anthropic to Expand AI Infrastructure
Chipmaker AMD has announced a major partnership with AI company Anthropic, agreeing to supply tens of billions of dollars' worth of AI servers while investing up to $5 billion in the company. Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI models, plans to use AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450 chips beginning in 2027 to meet growing demand for artificial intelligence services.
The agreement is expected to strengthen AMD's position in the fast-growing AI chip market, where Nvidia currently holds a dominant share. The partnership also includes engineering collaboration aimed at improving AI model performance and expanding cloud-based AI infrastructure.
Industry analysts say the deal reflects the rapidly increasing demand for high-performance AI computing and highlights the intense competition among major chipmakers to power the next generation of AI applications.
